Job Title: Board Members (4)

Board Members (4)

Chislehurst, Kent

Voluntary

Join the Board of Chislehurst and Sidcup Housing Association and help us shape the future of housing for older people

Chislehurst and Sidcup Housing Association is seeking to appoint four new board members to help shape the future of our organisation.

We provide safe, secure, and welcoming sheltered housing for people aged 60 and over, managing 199 homes across the London Boroughs of Bromley, Bexley, and Lewisham.  As a small, ambitious and values-driven housing association, we’re proud of our strong community roots and impact.

We’re now looking for passionate and committed individuals to help guide our next chapter, strengthening our governance and supporting our mission to enable older people to live independently, with dignity and peace of mind.

What we’re looking for

We welcome applications from people who share our values and bring experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Housing Management: ideally within a housing association environment
  • Finance: either from a housing association environment or similar
  • Human Resources or Marketing: particularly around culture, engagement and visibility
  • Sustainability: to help us plan for the future and reduce our environmental impact

Previous board experience is not essential, but an understanding of governance, risk and compliance would be a valuable asset, helping to ensure effective oversight and high standards of accountability.

One of the roles will take lead responsibility for complaints, supporting a positive complaints handling culture and ensuring that the board maintains effective oversight of how concerns are addressed and learnt from.

Board members play a vital role in shaping our strategy, challenging and supporting the executive and ensuring the delivery of high-quality homes and services. You’ll be part of a welcoming and purposeful board, with access to a structured induction and ongoing development opportunities.

In addition to board meetings, you will be invited to join either our Audit & Risk Committee or Development Committee, depending on your skills and interests.

Board and Committee meetings are held quarterly, mostly virtual, on Thursday evenings at 6.30pm, along with an annual Board Away Day and Tenant Conference.

These are unremunerated roles, but reasonable expenses are covered.

We warmly encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and lived experiences who share our commitment and are ready to make a meaningful contribution.

We are committed to an inclusive recruitment process and happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments for candidates.

If this opportunity inspires you and you want to support our work providing homes that promote dignity, safety and independence, please review the Candidate Brief below along with the associated documents.

If you would like an informal chat about these roles email hilary@hilarychanningassociates.co.uk to schedule a call.

Applications to be received by Wednesday 16 July at midday
