About the Organisation

THA owns and manages around 650 homes, including general needs housing across six London boroughs and sheltered housing for more than 300 older residents across England. Founded to provide affordable housing for teachers, our connection to education remains central to who we are, alongside our wider role in supporting key workers and older people.

The Role

Teachers’ Housing Association (THA) is seeking a new Board Member who will also Chair its Audit & Risk Committee (ARC), to join us at an important time in our development.

With a new Board Chair in place and our recently launched Corporate Plan, 2026–2031 setting out our priorities for the years ahead, this is an opportunity to help shape the next chapter of a distinctive specialist housing association.

As Chair of ARC, you will lead the Committee’s oversight of audit, financial reporting, risk management, internal controls and regulatory assurance, helping the Board focus on the issues that matter most and make well-informed decisions. You will also contribute fully as a Board Member to THA’s wider strategy, governance and future direction.

We are looking for a professionally qualified accountant with current or recent senior-level financial experience, together with the confidence and credibility to operate effectively at Board or Committee level.

You will bring:

  • strong expertise in audit, financial reporting, risk and assurance;
  • the ability to interpret complex information and draw out the key issues;
  • sound judgement and an independent mindset;
  • confidence to challenge constructively and proportionately;
  • a collaborative, calm and inclusive approach; and
  • an understanding of social housing, governance and the regulatory environment.

Why Join Us

For the right person, this is a chance to make a meaningful contribution to a small organisation where your experience, judgement and perspective will genuinely count.

If you are interested in bringing your financial and governance expertise to a values-led organisation with ambition, purpose and a clear direction for the future, we would be delighted to hear from you.

There are 4 Board meetings a year and a Strategy Day which are all in person during the day, in London.  The 4 Committee Meetings are held virtually.
