Chair
Company name: Teachers’ Housing Association
Location: London
Salary: £5,000 pa
Closing date: 9am Friday 7 November 2025
About the Organisation
Teachers’ Housing Association (THA) provides affordable, high-quality homes for key workers, with a special focus on those working in education.
Our homes range from studio flats to family houses across the London Boroughs of Bexley, Brent, Croydon, Haringey, Kingston upon Thames and Waltham Forest, and we currently own and manage around 650 homes nationwide. In addition to family housing, we also support older residents by offering sheltered housing to over 300 individuals each year, helping them to live independently within supportive communities.
As our current Chair, Maurice Rumbold, prepares to step down in early 2026 after completing his full term, we are now seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to build on his legacy and help lead THA into its next chapter.
The Role
We are looking for a Chair who can inspire and lead our Board with clarity, thoughtfulness and purpose; someone who brings both strategic vision and a deep personal commitment to our mission and values.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of THA, ensuring we continue to make a tangible difference to the lives of the people and communities we serve, whilst ensuring the delivery of our new Corporate Plan, guiding growth and transformation in a managed and sustainable way.
In addition to your executive or non-executive experience in the social housing sector, you will bring strong business acumen, excellent ambassadorial skills, and a solid grasp of governance, financial viability and risk management, alongside a good understanding of the regulatory landscape and sector challenges.
Why Join Us
Whether you are an experienced Chair or stepping into the role for the first time, you’ll find a supportive, engaged and forward-looking Board and Executive Team, committed to collaboration, creativity and positive impact.
We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds who share our belief in the power of housing to transform lives. We are also committed to an inclusive recruitment process and are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments that may be required.
If this opportunity resonates with you, and you share our commitment to our mission, purpose, and values, you can find further details in the How to Apply section below.
